Privacy Collection Notice and Consent to the Department of Justice and
Community Safety
The
Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS) collects, uses and discloses
personal, sensitive and health information for the purposes of recruitment,
selection, pre-employment screening, onboarding, training and other
employment-related activities.
DJCS
collects this information to assess your suitability for employment and to meet
its employment, legal and administrative obligations. This may include
undertaking enquiries and checks relating to your employment history,
qualifications, licences, references, integrity matters and offence history,
where relevant and permitted by law.
DJCS
handles personal and health information in accordance with the Privacy and Data
Protection Act 2014 (Vic), the Health Records Act 2001 (Vic) and the Public
Records Act 1973 (Vic).
DJCS
engages third-party service providers to assist with recruitment, assessment,
screening, health evaluation, reference checking and onboarding activities.
These providers may collect, store, process and disclose information on behalf
of DJCS in accordance with applicable privacy legislation and contractual
requirements. Some assessments conducted by third-party service providers will
require the use of electronic supervision this is a requirement to proceed
through the recruitment process. Where this occurs, personal information may be
collected, used and disclosed for the purpose of administering, monitoring and
verifying the assessment process. During electronically supervised assessments,
DJCS or its third-party service providers may collect recordings of candidates
and their surroundings for the purposes of identity verification, to ensure
integrity of the assessment process. This could include live or recorded

DJCS
and its service providers may use automated technologies, including artificial
intelligence (AI), to support recruitment activities. Any such use will be
subject to appropriate governance and human oversight and will not be solely
relied upon to make final employment decisions.
If
you do not provide requested information, or if the information provided is
incomplete or inaccurate, DJCS may be unable to properly assess your
application. This may result in your withdrawal from the recruitment process or
the withdrawal or termination of an offer of employment.
You
may request access to your personal information held by DJCS and seek
correction of that information if it is inaccurate, incomplete, out of date or
misleading. Requests may be made through the relevant business unit or, where
applicable, in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Vic)
through DJCS’s FOI team.
